Affording WSA
We are committed to making WSA affordable for families across a wide range of backgrounds. Need-based tuition assistance typically ranges from a 10 to 50 percent discount, and admissions decisions are made without regard to financial need. Our admissions team will walk you through every step.

Yes. Our classrooms are screen-free, with no tablets, no laptops, and no interactive whiteboards. We keep the school day clear of screens so children learn first-hand, by doing, making, and playing. This is not a rejection of technology: by protecting attention and imagination now, and teaching critical thinking, we prepare students to use screens, social media, and AI wisely as they grow.

Yes. Students complete the same core math and science Georgia expects of every student, including Algebra I by eighth grade, and graduate as critical thinkers ready for the most demanding high schools.

WSA’s Educational Support for Diverse Learning Needs
The Waldorf School of Atlanta is committed to fostering the healthy development of every student in alignment with our mission and the Waldorf educational philosophy. We value the unique strengths that each student brings to our school, and we strive to provide an environment where children can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our Approach to Learning Differences
We are able to serve students with a range of learning profiles, including students who benefit from classroom accommodations and whose required supports fall within the scope of our program. We make reasonable modifications to our policies, practices, and procedures where necessary to accommodate individuals with disabilities. For applicants whose needs extend beyond what our program can provide, we work with families to determine whether WSA is the best place to serve their child’s education.
Waldorf education is not a clinical or therapeutic program and we do not provide special-education services as defined under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). While we offer differentiated instruction, classroom accommodations, and supplemental academic support, we ask families to work with outside professionals for intensive one-to-one remediation, clinical therapy or behavior intervention services, or other services, at the family’s expense. We welcome collaboration with outside providers when it supports the student’s overall well-being and classroom success.

Yes. We simply build the foundation first. In the early years we lean into listening, speaking, storytelling, rhyme, and the artistic drawing of letters, because true literacy is not only reading and writing but also listening well and communicating clearly. With that groundwork in place, formal reading begins in the grades and takes hold quickly, and Waldorf students grow into confident, voracious readers with a genuine love of books.

Early Childhood classes have 12 to 16 children with a lead teacher and an assistant. Grades 1 to 8 have 15 to 22 students with a class teacher who stays with the group for years, and some subjects are taught in smaller groups.

Our teachers know their students deeply and watch each child's development closely from the earliest years, which means we often notice when a child needs something more, and we notice it early. When that happens, we partner with the family and draw on our educational support team, whether a child needs a gentle boost or more individualized attention. Small classes, a teacher who stays with the group for years, and close observation let us meet each child as an individual, rather than waiting for anyone to fall behind.

Homework starts small in third grade to build good habits, and grows to roughly 60 to 90 minutes a night by middle school, in line with other schools.

No. WSA is non-sectarian and teaches no religious dogma. We honor a range of spiritual traditions and help students understand cultures and religions around the world.

We welcome families regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or background. Typically 30 to 35 percent of our students are of Multiracial, African American, Asian, or Hispanic heritage.

No uniforms, though we do have a simple dress code that supports the learning environment.
