Student Honors & Achievements
Here are a few selections of student achievements, statewide events and competitions over the years, taken from our weekly Breeze Bulletin newsletter:
Essay Contest Winner - Winter 2021
We are so proud to announce that the winner of the 19th annual Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Middle School Essay Contest for DeKalb County is none other than our very own 7th grader, Abeille Goldstein! Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders across Bartow, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties were invited to participate in the annual essay contest. One winner was selected from each county and a single Grand Prize winner will be chosen soon. Abeille and her family have also been invited to attend an online celebration on the 21st of January with all the winners across Georgia.
All State Orchestra - Winter 2021
Congratulations to the students who completed the first round of auditions for All State Orchestra. All of the students who tried out from our school will be continuing on to the second and final round! Wish them luck in the second round, and give an virtual pat on the back or air high five to: Peace Brand, Olivia Landau, Davy Mills, Oliver Myers, Stella Reber-Viñas, Zeke Reddick, Roman Robinson, Kiran Wolf, and Sebastien Zdan.
CHORUS - Winter 2020 Performances
Ms. Jaynes had a busy February in 2020, directing chorus members in a number of local and statewide honor chorus conferences and performances:
District Honor Chorus - Avondale Estates, GA
Nine of our middle schoolers participated in the District 4 Honor Chorus January 31 through February 1 at Avondale Estates First Baptist Church. Some of the students joined the Boys Choir and some took part in the Treble Choir, where Ms. Jaynes also performed as the accompanist. The students who participated were:
6th- Nayla-Rea Alexander, Sofia Almond-Rubio, Eli Coffey, Abeille Goldstein, Sakura Maruping, Oliver Myers

8th- Maddie Cammllarie, Elizabeth Domashchenko
Elementary Honor Chorus - Jonesboro, GA
At the Clayton County Performing Arts Center, five of our 5th grade students participated in Statewide Elementary Honor Chorus February 14 through February 15. The students will be sang with approximately 500 other elementary students from schools all around the state of Georgia. The students who participated were:
5th- Jacquelyn Almond-Rubio, Sagean Avery, Eva Gartland, Willa Hines, Julia Nichols
Statewide Sixth Grade Honor Chorus, All State Honor Chorus - Athens, GA
Ms. Jaynes and four of our 6th grade students participated in Statewide Sixth Grade Honor Chorus in Athens, GA, singing with approximately 500 other sixth grade students from schools all around the state of Georgia. The students who participated were:
6th- Sakura Maruping, Maya McHale, Oliver Myers, Stella Reber-Viñas
All State Honor Chorus
Ms. Jaynes and one of our of 8th grade students, Leighton Lingenfelter, participated in All State Honor Chorus in Athens, GA at the Classic Center on February 27 through February 29. This student performed with the Treble Middle School Chorus and will performed with approximately 500 other 7th and 8th grade students from Georgia schools. Each of the students had to pass two auditions to make it to this wonderful event!

WSA's Boys Basketball Team won their Championship Game, with a final score of 29-19
