Athletics at WSA

In grades six, seven, and eight, traditional sports are offered in the physical education curriculum during the school day. Only now can the children have a real respect for the law of rules and understand how a team works together. At the same time, they are developing their own self-discipline and competitive nature. They aspire to a finer exactness, technique, timing and spirit of the law, as they also become more aware of the world.

An in depth discussion of games and movement in kindergarten and lower grades is found here .

Middle School After-School Sports Program

Preregistration is required for all sports programs. Students may participate in an activity after parents have signed them up and paid the registration fee and uniform deposit. Children not picked up from their sport by the end of a practice session will be brought to the Extended Day Program. Parents will be responsible for the drop-in fee.

All students in grades six, seven and eight, who have an interest are encouraged to play one or more sports during the school year. There is no prior experience required.

The Waldorf School of Atlanta is part of the Atlanta Private Athletic Conference (APAC). Our Athletic Director is Lisa Novak.

please note…

Registration will be completed on ACTIVE this year.  Official competition calendar (games, meets, and matches) will be distributed with the practice schedule. They will also be available on the school Google calendar. All participants must have a current physical evaluation and clearance to participate on file at The Waldorf School of Atlanta.

  • In case of inclement weather, WSA will decide on possible practice cancellation by 1:30pm and will communicate to player parents. On game days, the decision is made jointly between WSA and the other school. Notification will go out via text/phone call to player parents and the WSA office will have the information.
  • If a practice or a game is cancelled at 1:30 or after, the students will have the option of going to the Extended Day Program.
  • We have found that waiting until late August to get the required player physical evaluation is sometimes frustrating. We advise getting the physical evaluation early in the summer, if possible. Physical evaluations are valid for 12 months.
  • Athletic Director Lisa Novak can be reached at lnovak@waldorfatlanta.org.

Practice sessions and Games are listed in the Breeze Bulletin and on the WSA calendar. You can also FOLLOW WSA on FACEBOOK for scores and photos of our teams!
