Darla Shuman grew up on a farm north of Atlanta. She was homeschooled throughout high school, which allowed her to live in New York City part-time as she continued her studies. Upon graduating, she moved to NYC full-time to study Philosophy at The Kings College, NYC. Shuman eventually returned to Atlanta to complete her degree in Philosophy and Pre-Law, graduating with Honors from Georgia State University.
Shuman studied Classical Ballet at The Roswell Dance Theatre for 13 years. She was accepted into their pre-professional company at the age of ten, which afforded her opportunities to perform in cities across the East coast. She also studied violin and piano for many years.
Shuman has been involved in the non-profit sector for over 10 years, specifically working with The Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the YWCA. Upon discovering The Waldorf School of Atlanta in 2013, prior to having children, she immediately fell in love with the philosophies behind Waldorf Education. The Shuman family has been an active member of the WSA community since 2015. She enjoys working in Development and Marketing as the Advancement Assistant and serves as Spring Auction Chair. Darla lives in Decatur with her two children, Waverly-Rae and Warner.
