WSA Family Involvement

Just as WSA was founded by parents in 1986, parents are vital to its ongoing success. By helping with the school's needs, you not only share in your child's educational experiences, you also have a direct impact on the quality of the community that nurtures and enriches all of our children. Below is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities for this school year. We look forward to hearing from you with where your interests and skills match with one or more of the categories below. Please complete the form below with your volunteer interests.  You may contact Emily Zdan at ezdan@waldorfatlanta.org with any questions. We truly appreciate your time and support.

Holiday Fair (November 11, 2017, 10:00-4:00pm) – Celebrating our 30th annual fair, this is our biggest outreach event of the year. While each class will have Holiday Fair representatives who will provide leadership for the Fair, we ask that all WSA families contribute 3-4 hours in preparation of this event and a minimum of a 2-hour shift for each child enrolled (4 hours max) on Holiday Fair weekend. We appreciate that some parents will contribute even more hours toward this wonderful outreach opportunity.

We are all already signed up for the Holiday Fair!

Development – Work in a wide range of activities for the school's fundraising efforts. Activities include supporting the various mailings (e.g. stuffing envelopes, etc.), making calls for the Annual Fund Phonathon, encouraging Annual Fund participation within the community, recruiting participants for the Apogee program, researching foundations and preparing grant requests, and working to strengthen relations with alumni.

WSA Spring Auction (March 24, 2018) – Work with fellow parents to plan our largest fundraiser and social event for the school year. Four leadership roles are open: Corporate Sponsorship Chair, Auction Items Chair, Event Logistics Chair and Marketing Chair.  We also need over 25 volunteers to fill these committees.  Committee meetings begin in fall and tasks include: event planning, class project coordination, database management, silent auction management, food, music and more. Do you like to plan parties? This committee just might be for you!

Meal Preparation for Guests of our School – WSA hosts over 15-20 Waldorf mentors, evaluators, consultants, prospective teachers, and guests to our campus each year. As a gracious offering, our school provides a snack and lunch for each day our guest is on campus. We are looking for parents who can deliver a basket or small cooler with snack and lunch to the office kitchen by 10:00am. Emily Zdan will email you with specific guest arrival dates and any dietary needs.
Housing for Guests of our School – WSA offers family housing for our out of town guests. Let us know if you have room in your home to host someone for 5 days or less. We ask that you offer a simple breakfast. Some transportation needs may be required. Emily Zdan will contact you with specifics information.
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Initiative - All-school holiday and end-of-the-year gifting efforts and development of new structures for expressing parent gratitude to WSA’s teachers and staff.
