At the Waldorf School of Atlanta, we believe that a healthy social life is vital to the development of the child and to the functioning of a community. In 2007, our school began a coordinated endeavor to bring deeper consciousness to social issues and to strengthen healthy social practices for all members of the community. Under the guidance of Kim John Payne, M.Ed., Founding Director of The Center for Social Sustainability, we began a journey of implementing his Social Inclusion approach in our school. Parents, teachers, staff, and students are all involved in this important and inspiring work. Through his on-going work, his Simplicity Parenting approach has developed into a best-selling book, workshops and seminars.

Simplicity Parenting takes aim at all that is overloading our senses, and more specifically, those of our children, and calls on parents to embrace a less is more philosophy. "We are building our daily lives, and our families, on the four pillars of too much: too much stuff, too many choices, too much information, and too much speed.

With this level of busyness, distractions, time-pressure, and clutter (mental and physical), children are robbed of the time and ease they need to explore their worlds and their emerging selves." - Kim John Payne

In March, our school will host the Simplicity Parenting Group Leader Training and Certification. Become certified to run a 7-session Simplicity Parenting class designed to strengthen healthy choices and promote family wellness.

Pot Luck and Family Game Night at The Waldorf School of Atlanta

Hazelwood Hall, beginning at 5:30 to 8:30 pm

Come and enjoy an evening of delicious pot-luck food followed by board games and refreshments for the whole family!

How much time do we spend in front of screens, television, computers, video games, etc.? Why do we need to be conscious of screen-time? According to the Center for Screen-time Awareness, sponsors of National Turnoff Week, screen-time is eating up more and more of our days and limiting our time with family and friends. An ever-expanding array of electronic tools are being used at an ever- increasing rate by our children. In honor of Turnoff Week, The Waldorf School of Atlanta is hosting Family Night. We encourage all our families and friends to turn-off their screens and connect with family.
