Cooking with Mr. Blajic

Ljuba Blajic has many years of experience in the culinary world as a cooking instructor and therapeutic personal chef. During recent years, the first and second grades at the Waldorf School of Atlanta have enjoyed preparing natural foods with Ljuba. As a Waldorf Teacher, Ljuba brings a holistic quality towards teaching, allowing the art and process of cooking to address various areas of life while inspiring personal growth and connection as the bounty of the Earth is shared.

During cooking activities, students participate in:
-Skillful use of kitchen tools-
Students participate in the preparation of delicious, seasonal foods with the care and correct use of kitchen tools.
-Mindfulness and respect for their surroundings during times of working with others-
During food preparation, students are guided in their abilities to work cooperatively with mindfulness of the collective space where foods are prepared. We clean the kitchen, set our special eating environment, and pass utensils to friends as we receive food.
-Methods of cooking, culinary science, creation-
During our cooking activities, students have the opportunity to learn specialized cooking skills along with facts and nutritional benefits about the individual ingredients in their becoming a whole product.
-Learning about world cultures-
Students have the opportunity to learn about various world cultures where particular foods are enjoyed. Through cultural appreciation, students are also exposed to new languages and expansive ‘cultural flavors’.
-Nourishing themselves and their friends with healthy ingredients-
Students are inspired to choose healthy eating habits
